Today sees the return of fruity technology names, with the launch of the Raspberry Pi.

The Raspberry – a low-cost computer to introduce children to the nuts-and-bolts of programming – is a Good Thing.  The in-joke name feels like a throwback to the early days of computing when IT companies softened their techie brands with names like Apple, Apricot, BlackBerry and Acorn.

I’m tempted to add Orange to this list but, as I was once paid to point out, that’s the colour (Pantone 151, to be pedantic) and not the fruit.
